Tutors for Kids, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit community-based organization of volunteers who support the local educational process by responding to school requests for direct classroom tutoring in reading, math, writing, and science as well as family support and activities that enhance the educational environment leading to scholastic achievement.
Our Mission – Tutors for Kids volunteers provide a free tutoring service to students in Grades K through 5 in reading, writing, math, and the sciences. We also work in one middle school. Teachers identify the students who need extra help. Teachers then request tutoring assistance during the school day.
Our Services – A tutor arrives in the classroom at the beginning of the period. Usually the tutor works one-on-one with a student for approximately 20-30 minutes. The tutor may also work with up to four students during the period.
Book Distribution Update – Through June 2018, Tutors for Kids has given out over 80,000 new books to children in the twelve schools that we service. Due to the socio-economic demographic in the tri-county area, books are a luxury in many homes and to receive a book is a treasure.
